2009 World Stem Cell Summit, is to be organized in Baltimore. The three day long summit is likely to be held in September and it is expected to bring together more than 1,200 scientists, companies and foreign government emissaries.
The field is expected to get a boost if President-elect Barack Obama reverses President George W. Bush’s restrictions on ffederal funding for research on human embryonic stem cells.
Next year’s world summit is expected to address funding opportunities, as well as regulatory and ethical issues, intellectual property and medical tourism.
The summit will be hosted by Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland.
