Advanced Cell Technology Inc. has finished raising more than $13 million through two financing deals to fuel research efforts.

ACT was in the news recently when it announced it had found a new technique to generate embryonic stem cell lines from embryos without destroying the embryo.

The research money will allow the company to accelerate three programs designed to use stem cells to treat eye disease, heart and vascular disease and regenerate skin damaged by wounds, burns and surgical procedures.
