pluripotent-stem-cellLatest news reveals the invention of new technique which has the capability to distinguish the pluripotent stem cells from less capable stem cells.

Stem cells are the cells which have the ability to renew themselves through mitotic cell division and differentiate into a diverse range of specialized cell types.

These cells are very hard to identify from the normal cells due to the bloblike appearance.

After working on them for quite a long time, Jeanne Loring of the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California, and her colleagues has discovered a new way with which the pluripotency of the stem cells can be measured.

This new test came into existence during an analysis of 150 stem cell samples of various types. 150 type of stem cell includes different reprogrammed cells, embryonic stem cells and neural stem cells.

After analysis they found about 299 types of interacting genes which makes the pluripotency network or PluriNet.

Thus, this new invention has opened a new way to measure the pluripotency of the stem cells and also proved that the skin cells after being reprogrammed shows same pluripotency as that of embryonic stem cells.
