Missouri Governor Matt Blunt on Tuesday reaffirmed his support for stem cell research during a speech to the Missouri Baptist Convention.

“I believe public money should support research to develop adult stem cells,” Blunt told the audience of about 2,000. He then challenged all Christians to consider the “complicated issues” of stem cell research.

The differences on stem cell research didn’t dampen the group’s support of the governor, a Southern Baptist himself and a member of Second Baptist Church, where the meeting was being held.

“This governor is standing with us on 95 percent of the issues,” Jackson added.
