First Training Centre in Novato To Culture Stem Cells
A new training center named Buck Institute at Novato is going to start its first session soon. This Institute is the first training center where growing and using embryonic stem-cell colonies will be done together.
The center’s first focus will be to culture embryonic stem cells for the chronic diseases, like Parkinson’s, cancer, other neurodegenerative conditions etc.
Stem cells are the cells that are found in most multi-cellular organisms. They have the ability to renew themselves through mitotic cell division and differentiating into a diverse range of specialized cell types. And because of this ability stem cell therapy has gained a promise to cure almost all inevitable diseases. Right from Parkinson’s to Alzheimer’s.
Buck Institute’s faculty member Xianmin Zeng (Ph.D) the program director for both the shared laboratory space and the training facility says that she is personally gratified to CIRM. As they has designated the Buck as a training center for other forty scientists.
She believes that the postgraduates and graduates who will be attending the courses will have so potential that they alone will be able to make a huge impact on human health.
