Democrats Senator Natasha Stott Despoja says she will be ready to introduce her Bill on extending stem cell research when Parliament sits next month.

For months Senator Stott Despoja has been working on a cross-party approach to force a vote on stem cell research.

Now she says her Bill will be ready by September and she wants a debate to follow.

Today she is meeting scientists, stakeholders and former New South Wales Premier Bob Carr - who is also pushing for change.
