PerryCrossStem cell therapy created another headlines by giving new and independent life to a paraplegic man named Perry Cross. He is the most high profile man among all patients that has traveled to India for stem cell therapy. He was paralyzed below neck for 14 years after being injured while playing rugby. He was so dependent that he has to be connected to a ventilator to breathe.

After he become paraplegic he was in search of treatment when he met, superman actor Christopher Reeve, and then he become an ambassador for stem cell research in America. Being an ambassador he has spoken in the United Nations several time and also has contributed to television and radio debates on the virtues of research. He also set up a foundation to raise money to help find new ways to fight paralysis, which is supported by Adam Gilchrist.

During his search he heard about Dr Geeta Shroff, stem cell doctor of Nu Tech Mediworld hospital based in Gautam Nagar, Delhi, India. According to him, it took a huge leap of faith to travel in India for treatment.

“The person Geeta Shroff is a well known controversial figure, in her own country”.

She is one kind of person who does her work with fierce determination in her own terms and in her own way.

She started her research without any grants or financial help, single handed way in a lab set up in a garage. And today she has two hospitals in New Delhi, and many national and international patients. These patients are mainly from Australia, Britain and America as there is much tighter controls on the use of embryonic stem cell treatment.

And now Perry Cross is thanking Dr Geeta Shroff, for giving him independent life, as he can now breathe of his own.
