In what can be called a major boost in stem cell research, Hollywood superstar and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed SB 1565. The bill aims to make stem cell therapies and diagnostics funded by California’s multibillion-dollar stem cell research agency affordable and accessible. It will also help the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) to fund research beyond politically charged embryonic stem cells.

Now there is a good news for the patients who have somehow lost their finger partially or completely, as the U.S. Army Institute for Surgical Research in Fort Sam Houston, Texas, is currently working with the University of Pittsburgh’s McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine using stem cells, on a project to regrow soldiers’ limbs.
